The CEO’s Hidden Love Midnight Temptations and Deep Desires

Chapter 1669

Felicity was still reeling from the encounter, utterly perplexed as the herbalist made her exit without much ado. She tugged at Dorothy's sleeve, her voice laced with concern, "Ms. Sanchez, she barely said a thing! What about your illness...?"

"I thought I was seriously ill, but it seems like it's nothing to worry about now."

...

Felicity's anxiety had roots deeply embedded in the stories her mother had shared with her numerous times about Ms. Sanchez's youth, how she had once been poisoned, leaving her not as robust as others. Yet, judging by what the herbalist said, it seemed her condition was so mild that any roadside herbalist could have given it a look.

Was a trip to Anglonia really necessary?

Just as she was about to voice her myriad of questions, Miles returned.

Seeing her son, Dorothy cleverly suggested to Everett, "We haven't strolled through Anglonia in ages. How about you show me around?"

Everett, ever the doting husband, agreed without hesitation.

"Sure."

"Alright, you two catch up. Your father and I are going out for some fresh air! Langston, Felicity is still under the weather. Take care of her, will you?"

Miles nodded, his gaze lowered, "Yeah, I got it."

As the couple left, Felicity found herself unexpectedly alone with Langston, feeling a tad overwhelmed and, frankly, awkward.

Before, when their interactions were uncomplicated by feelings, it was one thing. But now, after having been intimately involved, pretending to revert to a brother-sister dynamic felt impossible.

"Uh... Langston, I... I suddenly feel tired again. I think I'll go back to my room to sleep. Make yourself at home!"

With that, she turned to leave, but in an instant, her wrist was firmly grasped.

Miles's palm was cool, not the warm she was used to, hinting at his nervousness. "Felicity."

His voice was hoarse, sending a shiver down her spine.

"Huh?"

"Let's talk."

"No!" Her laugh was stiff, her refusal automatic, "Langston, I really want to sleep!"

Felicity tried to leave, but Miles's grip didn't waver, leaving her no escape.

"Want to sleep?"

She nodded vigorously, "Yes, yes!"

"Alright." To her surprise, he agreed.

Then, in the next moment, Miles lifted her in his arms and gently placed her on the bed in her room.

"Just lie down, and listen to me."

This was exactly what Felicity had feared!

After months of peaceful coexistence, she worried that Langston was about to dredge up the past once more. Surely, this cycle couldn't continue?

Now was the perfect time for Miles to find da girlfriend, get married, have kids without her holding him

"I'm not listening."

She covered her ears, refusing any form of communication.

Yet, his deep voice still managed to penetrate the air, to find its way to her.

"Felicity..."

"It's not important."

Felicity froze.

Her dark eyes, forgetting to shield her feelings, stared directly at him, "You know? Who told you?"

Only after speaking did she realize her mistake.

What if Miles was merely bluffing?

"Did you think, because I haven't reached out these past months, had started a new life?" Miles's laugh was tinged with self-mockery,"

The days that followed were like living as a ghost.
